Landlords have been advised to think about renting out their properties through a letting agent as they can take responsibility for the upkeep of homes.
According to letting agent body Arla, landlords may find it is easier to find a tenant through an agent, as well as being able to allow them to handle the property management side of the business.
“A good agent should be able to help a landlord find reliable tenants, conducting the relevant reference and credit checks and ultimately helping to protect your investment,” commented the letting agent.
It added that landlords can also expect letting agents to help with aspects of property management such as repairs and maintenance, which can save hassle.
Back in July 2010, Arla stated that the lack of supply of available properties in the private rented sector was getting worse.
Some 70 per cent of the letting agent body’s members said there are more tenants than homes to let on the market.
