The previous Chancellor recently announced that Small Business Rate Relief is to be increased from 1st October 2010 to 100% on properties with an RV of up to £6,000, and tapered relief for those with RV’s between £6,000 and £12,000.
This is good news for those eligible and good for us as many of our small offices and workshops have RV’s below this, therefore it will genuinely reduce the cost of occupying business space.
However, is the Local Authority in your area doing enough to publicise this? In some areas we believe that SME’s are not being advised of current Small Business Rates Relief or the new arrangements.
What is your experience?
And will the new Government honour this initiative?
